Speed Of Time In Virtual World

Recently, I have been very active in facebook with posting and commenting and discussing as well. There was this post or a topic where we all were discussing. At late night, I and my friend were chatting on the same topic when suddenly, my friend said, "Look at the update in facebook."

I went straight there and to my surprise found so many posts and comments waiting to be read. At that moment I said to myself, how can so many people post at the similar time and be understood with out any confusion. This took me into thinking of a problem that usually occurs in the banking sector.

When, more then one person try to access the similar account at one time, the process needs to make sure that no false transaction occur. In technical term its called atomicity

But the situation here seems a bit different and I was thinking of something else - the speed of time in the Virtual world. How are we spending our time in social networking site, and how do we look at these activities ?. In real world, the interaction happens in a fixed amount of time with certain constraint and we have a memory of that event as a particular date

But, in virtual world how do it affect our memory which in itself is so strongly bonded with the speed or the flow of time. Thus, I am exploring myself into understanding the affect of activities in the social network to the humans memory and his/her activities in real world.

Lets just say, I am still going through the process of analysing it. If you all come to certain conclusion let me know. It could be lot help for better understanding of ourselves.

  1. what does it mean by "I went straight there and to my surprise found so many posts and comments waiting to be read. At that moment I said to myself, how can so many people post at the similar time and be understood with out any confusion"?
What is the actual confusion about?

  2. Well, it so happened that we all were discussion some topic on facebook and than arguing about certain idea.. now in real life, we wait for others to finish their saying and then comment on it. But in facebook, no one waits, we all simply comment on the topic.. which makes the flow of conversation haphazard, making the flow of idea difficult to comprehend. . this has happened in many cases, where the comment on facebook rises to more than 50 and so..

Selling a Comb to a Bald Person?

Here my friend, Ashay, put it very truly to me that the marketer's most challenge is to sell a comb to a bald. First, I am not trying to justify anything here. But I just couldn't help thinking how on earth am I going to sell a comb to a bald. How? Just how? I kept pondering upon it till late night. I actually had very few options with me, the first was obviously to use Google and Find? :) But, I didn't do that. Some how I was still in confusion. Then just before going to sleep, I had an discussion with my other friend, on types of marketing on issues related to customer centric marketing. Hmm. Then some how it hit me. I went back to basic on my own philosophy, sell things that is needed. So here is a small anecdote I prepared : Sale Person   : Hello sir. How are you? Do you have a time, plzzz? Bald Person : (Almost confused and in social causality) OK OK what is it? I don't have time. Sale Person    : Here sir, do you want to by a comb?  Bald Person  : Can't you

The day I dreamt of becoming someone

Reading a story is like pealing an onion, each chapters reveal new secrets and show their hidden layers. Everyone has their own story to tell, that is mysteriously connected with the stories of millions of other people living or dead in this planet. We think ourselves as an individual with our own identity and conscience, but NO, we are connected beings not with DNA or through our blood lines - but through our stories. Stories are at the heart of our being, and they are our reasons of living. The physical being of us has no meaning, but as a connected being with millions of other stories, we individually play an important role. So here is my story of dreaming. Story doesn’t begin when we are born, or when we are given a name by the almighty holy priest. It beings when we all hit by our consciences that pushes us to make a decision that transpires our story and defines our character and role in this world. For some it begins early, but for some it begins late. However, it always b
